Baymarque Wins UDIA Award for Excellence
Friday, 04 December 2009
Baymarque has been named winner of the Medium Density category at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Victoria Awards for Excellence 2009.
In one of Melbourne's prestigious inner bayside suburbs, Hamton has created an exclusive secure townhouse community that is unique to Brighton. Consisting of 46 high quality townhouses featuring contemporary architectural design by Rothelowman Architects, superior finishes and a significant diversity of townhouse types, Baymarque is a stylish and timeless development.
The UDIA Awards for Excellence celebrate Australia's contemporary knowledge, skills, and innovation in the urban development industry. The awards recognise outstanding achievements of high quality developments that contribute to the industry, government and community.
Judges comments:
"Deceptively large, and with good street frontages, Baymarque town homes integrate seamlessly into their Brighton environment of typically large family residences. Yet, their compact size and efficient use of materials makes them well-priced for the local market.
The homes were sold under a two-contract process (the method typically used for house and land packages), which helped to ensure a more successful financial model.
This development involved resolving a dispute between a bowling club and tennis club. Extensive one-on-one consultation with council officers and the local community ensured many of the potential obstacles to the development were resolved."
Baymarque has now been put forward for a National award. We will await the results.
