Art purchased to feature throughout Society
Friday, 17 July 2009
Contemporary art by Stuart Spence has been purchased for the Society Suoth Yarra lobby bar and reception, foyers and common areas. Society residents will be able to enjoy Stuart's entire "As Yet Unclear" exhibition as well as two original pieces designed specifically for Society. The total 26 pieces will be displayed throughout the building and will be a superb feature.
The collection is super fit for the development, unforgettable iconic images that are sophisticated with a sense of style that is just timeless.
MARS gallery has opened the interactive photography show by Stuart Spence, "As Yet Unclear", where some of Australia's finest writers, poets and musicians have interpreted Spence's photographs in their own exceptional ways with original 'soundtracks' including Tim Oxley (Roger Loves Betty), Tim Freedman (The Whitlams), mark Seymour (ex. Hunters and Collectors), Luke Davies (writer of award winning novel and feature film "Candy") and Peter O'Doherty (ex Mental as Anything).
The exhibition invites you to wander through the show with tiny MP3 players and view Spence's often dark, often romantic works whilst listening to the writers' corresponding words and music. Through a dreamlike union of image and sound, the exhibition is most intribuing. The soundtracks will also be available for Society residents to download from the Society intranet when they move in.
Stuart is in the process of creating the two large original signed pieces as part of the 26 piece collection Society has purchased. We look forward to Stuart personally hanging these pieces at Society when construction is complete in early 2010.
